Coordinating Sunday School Teacher – Carman United Church, Sardis (Chilliwack)

Carman United Church needs an enthusiastic, creative person interested in teaching children 3-12 years of age to develop their experience of God through the Christian story.
Terms:
· The contract period is September 7, 2010 to May 27, 2011 (38 weeks)
· $2700 paid in 9 monthly installments of $300
· Current criminal records check (including vulnerable population check) will be required

April 18th- Youth group members from around Fraser Presbytery got together and "competed" in a game of Bigger and Better! The event was at Gladwin Heights in Abbotsford, and hosted by TaG Youth Group.
We started with just a paper-clip per group, and ended up with enough stuff for a garage sale! Items included: hockey sticks, cash, a clock, a solar powered light fixture, cat food, a remote control truck, a baby stroller, and much more!
After meeting back at the church after walking around in the gorgeous sun, we shared our items, Freezies, and our stories.

Joint Youth Group Event!
You are invited to join a youth event co-hosted by TaG youth group (Abbotsford), and Langley Youth Group. We had a trial run of this game March 13; it was a ton of fun, but we wanted to try it again with more people.

It Takes A Village... Right Relations Event

All are welcome to attend this important event that seeks to:

increase non-Aboriginal youth, young adult and adult understanding of Aboriginal communities before contact, during the residential school years and the time following.
allow participants through a simulation experience about an aboriginal village, to really seek to understand the experience that has led Aboriginal people to the place they have lived through and now hold in history and culture
hear from Aboriginal Youth and Elders about their own history and experience
set personal goals for individual future involvement in building right relations with Aboriginal and non-aboriginal people and communities

Our guest presenter, Kathi Camilleri, is the Aboriginal Child and Youth Mental Liaison Worker, Aboriginal head Start Coor dinator, from Laichwiltach Family Life Society in Campbell River. Marion Best, Jim White, Doris Kizinna and Eric Hamlyn will help faciliate the programme for the day of experience, conversation and mutual understanding. Kathi’s presenta tion and simulation exercise has been described as profound, educational and healing. Don’t miss out on your chance to experience the vision of whole and healthy communities, as they once were.

Young Teens at General Council - August 8-15th - Kelowna
Sharilynn took part in the leadership team working with12-14 year olds in a Theatre Program at General Council. This group will respond with drama to the social justice issues that present themselves in their world and at the General Council Assembly. This was a GREAT event for YAYA Ministry... we had 11 people connected with YAYA in attendance: 2 children, 2 young teens, 1 Youth Forum, 2 Young Adults, 2 Youth Leaders & Sharilynn - Fraser YAYA minister. I hope you will engage some of these young voices to share their excitement for a service near you!

Youth Council within Fraser Presbytery
We have a vision of having a new and revised Fraser Presbytery Youth Council meeting along side and within the Presbytery meetings so that younger people may be informed and involved in the wider church processes. Youth Council is a community of teens working within Fraser Presbytery who work together to build community and spiritual growth. If you think you or some youth you know would like to be involved... please contact Sharilynn at Fraseryaya@telus.net to see when we can gather next.
